COFFEE TABLE BOOKS

FYI: This post was created in collaboration with Alice Lane Home. The Rose Quartz Book Ends were gifted to me.

Although I love browsing Pinterest and blogs for daily inspiration, there’s nothing more visually stimulating than flipping through a physical book! I rounded up a few of my favorite reads this season. They make perfect coffee table books but they’re also equally inspiring as they are aesthetically pleasing.

SPRING READS

Disclaimer: This post was created in collaboration with Capri Blue candles. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that keep Sheselle going!

Spring has sprung and as the flowers begin to bloom, I thought it would be fitting to share my Spring Reading List with topics centered around personal growth and strength. If it’s still a bit chilly where you live too – light up a candle (the one above is the Dark Vanilla and Sandalwood Gilded Muse candle by Capri Blue), wrap yourself in a cozy blanket, and get ready to curl up with a good book!

Personal Recommendation

Milk + Honey by Rupi Kaur: This is a collection of short poems and illustrations about Kaur’s journey with love. In short, it perfectly dissects the process of heartbreak through four sections: hurting, loving, breaking, and healing. She exhibits pure honesty and vulnerability throughout each piece and I found myself being able to relate to her experiences on so many emotional levels. Seriously, at the end of the book, it felt like I had just finished having a meaningful conversation with a good friend!

To Read

  1. I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
  2. All Grown Up by Jami Attenberg
  3. Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed
  4. Sweet Bitter by Stephanie Danler

PITY PARTY PLAYLIST

When you’re having a bad day, sometimes you just need to blast some sad music you can cry and reflect to (let it out gurl)! As much as I like listening to happy songs to cheer up, sometimes tapping into deeper tunes can be really cathartic and might even help uplift you in the process. It kind of makes you feel like you’re not alone in your feelings and that what you’r experiencing is human.

What songs do you like to listen to when you’re feeling sad? Share them below!

VALENTINES SELF LOVE

Valentines Day isn’t only about couples and it sure as heck doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate it in your own way! Skip the dinner reservations, unrealistic expectations, and pressure this holiday brings by showing YOURSELF some well deserved love. Here are 7 ways you can treat yourself this Valentines Day…

Breakfast in Bed: Start the day off right by treating yourself to a home cooked meal in the comfort of your own bed. Or if you’re lazy like me, consider ordering post mates to catch more Zzzs.

Splurge on Yourself: You know that one thing you’ve been dying to have but haven’t had the heart to drop some $$$ on? This is the perfect day to justify buying it. Whether it’s lingerie, a new handbag, or a cute accessory – buy it with no regrets!

Indulge in an Eye Candy Movie Marathon: Spoiling yourself with your favorite films and television shows featuring your favorite actors/actresses will be sure to make your heart flutter!

Give into your sweet tooth: Bake yourself some delicious holiday inspired sweets to enjoy while you’re on that Netflix binge! This Emoji Heart Chocolate Valentine’s Box by Aww Sam and this Love Note Cake by Studio DIY are perfect recipes to try out!

Have a party with your besties: Bond over some wine, gossip, and yummy appetizers.

Have a Solo Date: Who said you need company in order to have a good time?! Have a meal at your favorite restaurant and don’t worry about having to share your dessert!

Treat your body: End your day with a relaxing bubble bath, mani-pedi, and/or face mask.

This is something that we should be doing for ourselves all year round but this holiday is a perfect reminder to take care of yourself. What are you going to do for yourself this Valentines Day?!
