Summer Travel Essentials

FYI: This post is sponsored by Davids Cookies. All opinions are honest and my own.As exciting as vacations are, preparing for one can end up being overwhelming (especially when there’s one million things to check off on your to-do list before the big day). Whether you’re in it for the long haul or taking a quick trip across state, I rounded up up a few of my travel essentials that will hopefully make your journey a whole lot easier. I’m also partnering with Davids Cookies on today’s post to show you how perfect their selection of fresh baked desserts are for trips like these so rest assured, you won’t be leaving on an empty stomach. Keep reading to get the 411 on what to pack and munch on…

Capture Memories

When you’re traveling, it’s understandable to want to document every single thing but it can really take away from the overall experience. Instead of pulling out your smartphone every few minutes to edit a photo for the gram – use an instant camera! It’s quick, easy, and there’s just something extra special about having physical images to personally look back on. They’re also much more in the moment, which is a refreshing break from all the overly filtered and staged shots that we’re exposed to on social media. When your trip comes to an end, you’ll have a whole bunch of polaroids that you can either hang up on your wall or showcase in a scrapbook!

Snacks, snacks, + more snacks

Sometimes the food on a flight just isn’t enough so I like to pack a few extra snacks with me to indulge on. Luckily, Davids Cookies has a wide range of delicious bite sized treats to choose from. My personal favorites are Chocolate Chunk Cookies and Chocolate Chip Brownies (as shown above) because they automatically satisfy my sweet tooth cravings and are super easy to take on the go. They even have individually wrapped treats that you can easily pack into your carry on. A great thing to note about all of their products is that there are no added preservatives, fresh upon delivery, and they even offer gluten free options. Check out all the delicious goodness here. The process is simple: Order a tin (or two) via their website and expect a delivery at your doorstep within two days (perfect if you have a trip quickly coming up and want ultimate freshness!)

Take care of your skin!

Changing environments both within the flight cabin and your new destination can have a crazy effect on your skin. Like many other people, my skin becomes heavily dried out so bringing skincare items that give you a boost of hydration like a face mask, lip moisturizer, face lotion, and a refreshing mist are much needed. When you’re boarding off the plane and headed to an area where you’ll be exposed to a ton of harsh sunshine (even on cloudy days), sunscreen is your best friend! Trust me, your skin will thank you by the end of the trip. Lastly, don’t forget to make sure that all of your liquid products follow TSA policy to avoid having to throw them out (because let’s be real, skincare is expensive!)

Dress accordingly

If you get major anxiety during flights like me, I can’t stress how important it is to dress comfortably! Bring an extra pair of accessories like an oversized scarf, eye mask, and cozy socks. Oftentimes, the plane ride can be a chilly one, so having these all handy can really make your experience much more comfortable. Wherever you’re headed, make sure to also check the weather report beforehand to get an idea of what type of clothing pieces to bring. I’ll be heading to Seoul in a couple weeks, where temperatures will be 84 degrees and up so you’ll find me in floppy hats, shorts, and sunnies!

And there you have it – all my essentials for having a fun, stress-free Summer vacation. If you have any tips of your own that you would like to share, feel free to mention them in the comments below! Also, don’t forget to check out Davids Cookies and treat yourself to some sweet treats on your next vacay!

DIY BATH BOMB GIFTBAGS

This post is sponsored by ME! Bath. All opinions are honest and my own.

Drawing up a bubble bath is one of my favorite ways to unwind after a long day and what better way to pamper your loved ones than with these DIY Bath Bomb Gift Bags (seriously, who doesn’t love a spa treatment in the comfort of your own home)?! I’m partnering with ME! Bath to show you how to make these color block patterned DIY gift bags that are perfect for parties, weddings, holidays, or pretty much any occasion. They carry a total of 9 unique scents that are perfect for mixing and matching in each bag. A few of my favorites include Birthday Cake, Milk N’ Honey, and Ice Cream but you can check out all they have to offer at your local Target, Walgreens, CVS, or Amazon stores.

If you want to learn how to make these colorful treats, keep reading for a quick tutorial and free printable!

SUPPLIES

All of the items that I used for this DIY project can be purchased at your local craft store like Michaels or Joanns. Here’s what you need:

– Glassine Bags
– Acrylic Paint (I used Artists Loft in the colors Portrait Pink, Light Blue, Deep Yellow, and Ivory Black)
– Paint Brushes
– Mini Clothes Pins
– Washi Tape

HOW TO

For the pattern, I stuck with a color block theme for the entire set! I started off by using a ruler to measure out about 2.5-3 inches from the bottom of the bag and used washi tape to ensure a straight line. From there, I painted over the entire area with two coats of acrylic paint and allowed them to dry for about 30 minutes. Once the paint was set, I began free handing a series of dots, brush strokes, and lines to fill up the top half of the bag. Repeat these steps for each pattern and once all the bags are fully dry, you’re ready to fill them up with some delicious bath bombs! ME! Bath products come in the perfect size that are great for a single use so I was able to fit a weeks worth of these babies into each giftbag!

PRINTABLE TAGS

To top everything off, I illustrated these cute gift tags with the pun “You Da Bomb” that you can easily print out and attach! Download them here!

SPRING DESSERT PICNIC

FYI: This post is sponsored by Davids Cookies. All thoughts are honest and my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that keep SHESELLE going!

With Spring in full swing, it’s the perfect time to plan a picnic — whether it’s in the comfort of your own backyard, along the beach, or at a local park! Since I’m a huge sweet tooth, I thought it would be fun to center an entire picnic around dessert and David’s Cookies made it incredibly easy to execute! Within a span of 1-2 days, I received a delicious assortment of lemon pie, twelve piece mini cheesecakes, and dozens of cookies delivered straight to my door step. Oh and the cookies are baked and shipped the same exact day and are free of preservatives… how crazy is that?!

When planning a picnic, it’s super important that the food transports well! You don’t want to spoil your experience, right? Luckily, all of these desserts held up perfectly under the warm weather and were 100% fuss free. This is largely due to the fact that all baked goods are packaged safely in a cooler filled with dry ice upon delivery to ensure that you receive the best quality ever! Keep reading to see how the picnic turned out along with a yummy Cookie Sandwich recipe to pair along with it.

LUCKY UNICORN PANCAKES

St. Patrick’s Day is on Friday and with all the trending unicorn food on the internet lately, I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and create something equally magical! This six layer rainbow pancake is something you can easily whip up for breakfast… or any time of day because let’s be real, breakfast food is the best. I also wanted to use this holiday as an excuse to incorporate Lucky Charms marshmallows into a recipe because it was my favorite cereal growing up and I was seriously hit with nostalgia when I opened the box this morning! Let me know in the comments below if you would save all the marshmallows for last as a kid too and/or let me know if you decide to recreate this!!!

What You Need

  • 1 3/4 Cup of Pancake Batter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Cup or 8 oz of Water
  • Food Coloring in all the primary colors (Red, Yellow, Blue, Green)
  • Whip Cream
  • Multi-colored Sprinkles (I used a combination of stars and dots)
  • Lucky Charms Cereal Marshmallows

Directions

  1. Make your pancake batter! I used a store bought box to save time but you can always start from scratch using flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, milk, egg, and butter!
  2. Once you’ve mixed your batter (it’s okay if there are a few lumps), equally divide it into 6 separate bowls. From there, you will begin carefully dropping some food coloring into each bowl to create every color of the rainbow! I’m sure you already know this but just for quick reference: To create Purple, mix a 1:2 ratio of Red to Blue food coloring. To create Orange, mix a 1:2 ratio of Yellow to Red food coloring.
  3. Lightly rub some butter or vegetable oil on a non-stick pan and heat on low-medium. Make sure not to go any hotter than this because this will affect the color of the pancake. Once heat is evenly distributed, pour in mixtures into pan one by one. When sides of pancake begin to bubble and pop, it’s time to flip!
  4. When all six pancakes are complete, assemble them in the following order from top to bottom: Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red.
  5. Top with whip cream, Lucky Charms marshmallows, and a combination of different sprinkles!

DIY COPPER LADDER

As you all know, I’m in the process of decorating my home office and one of the things that I’ve been itching to add is a copper ladder because not only is it industrially chic but it’s also functions as a great home organizer. Seriously, you can pretty much hang everything from clothing, accessories, books/magazines, to blankets!

When I looked to West Elm and Urban Outfitters, ladders ranged from $100-200 and I definitely did not want to shell out that much cash for something for something so minimal. Thanks to Pinterest, I was inspired to recreate one of on my own and it turned out to be surprisingly easy! Everything you need can pretty much be found at your local hardware store. I purchased everything from the PVC section in Lowes for relatively under $60.

What you need

  • 1/2 in x 5 ft (60 in) Copper Pipes (3x)
  • 1/2 in Copper Slip Caps (4x)
  • 1/2 in x 1/2 in x 1/2 in Copper Slip Tee’s (8x)
  • Tape Measure/Ruler
  • Marker
  • Pipe Cutter (I used this)
  • Gorilla Glue

Dimensions to keep in mind

  • Top Vertical Bars = 13.5 in
  • Horizontal Step 1 = 12 in
  • Second Vertical Bars = 11 in
  • Horizontal Step 2 = 12 in
  • Third Vertical Bars = 11 in
  • Horizontal Step 3 = 12 inch length
  • Fourth Vertical Bars = 11 in
  • Horizontal Step 4 = 12 in
  • Bottom Vertical Bars = 13.5 in

Directions

  1. Measure out and mark 3 consecutive 11 inch sections and 2 consecutive 13.5 inch sections from a single 1/2 in x 5 ft Copper Pipe. Then carefully use pipe cutter by clamping wheel over each mark and slowly rotating/tightening the cutter until pipe snaps off. I recommend watching this Youtube video for visual reference on how to use this tool!
  2. Repeat entire process with next 1/2 in x 5 ft Copper Tube. At this point, you should be left with 6 – 12 inch tubes and 4 – 13.5 inch tubes.
  3. For the last 1/2 in x 5 ft Copper Tube, measure and mark 5 consecutive 12 inch sections. Again, carefully use pipe cutter by slowly rotating around each mark until pipe snaps. You will only need 4 of the 12 inch tubes (you can use the leftover tube for another DIY like these photo hangers).
  4. Time to assemble the pipes with the tee’s and caps! Refer to “dimensions to keep in mind” above for order of pipes (this is listed from top to bottom).
  5. Once you’ve arranged everything and have a general idea of where everything will go, use gorilla glue inside of each end of the copper pipes to secure. Allow to dry for at least 2 hours before using to allow glue to harden (FYI: Use small amounts and avoid any spill because the glue expands and will be hard to remove from hair, carpet, or clothing).
  6. Optional: Copper from hardware stores are generally pretty dirty and come with print markings. You can easily clean this off using a combination of Vinegar and Salt!

What do you think?! I’m so in love with how this turned out! As always, if you decide to recreate this, let me know how it turns out in the comments below and don’t forget to share your photos with me via Instagram!

BOBI PET REVIEW

Disclosure: I received bObi for review purposes. All opinions are honest and my own.

As you all know, I recently moved into my new home last weekend! In between moving furniture, organizing all of my props, and taking care of this crazy little fur ball — this place has pretty much been a mess! Luckily, bObsweep came to the rescue and sent me their bObi Pet robotic floor cleaner to help out around the home. Plus, if you’re a lazy gal like me who would much rather be doing anything else but cleaning… then this is the perfect product for you!

As I get older, I’m beginning to focus more on quality than quantity, especially when it comes down to the essentials that I use on a daily basis. For something like a vacuum, I always look for something with longevity, great suction, and maneuverability. bObsweep hits all these checkpoints and more:

AESTHETICS

I was actually really surprised with how sleek, compact, and lightweight the overall design was compared to other robotic cleaners in the market (most of which are bulky and physically unappealing). I chose my bObi Pet in the color, Scarlet and it perfectly accents all the colorful decor pieces in my home!

SUCTION

Anyone who also owns a pet that sheds like crazy would appreciate this product! Not only does this have efficient dust pick-up, but it also does an amazing job at sucking up massive amounts of pet hair.

TIMING

We live in a 3-story townhouse so there’s definitely a lot of ground to cover (ain’t nobody got time for that!) This baby can last for a little over an hour and even has a programmable schedule option that will give you one less thing to worry about!

SOUND

Unlike other hand held vacuums, this one does the job quietly and at a low volume. Seriously, you’ll barely notice that it’s there!

MANOEUVERABILITY

The bObi Pet glides over carpet, hard-wood floors, and hard to reach areas like under furniture so smoothly! It’s super reliable and the virtual barrier (known as the Block) prevents it from hitting delicate objects/corners.

Overall, I never thought I could be obsessed with a vacuum (oh man… I really am old). If you’re interested in learning more about the bObi Pet, click here for more information!

Do you have a robotic floor cleaner? What are your thoughts?
