Summer Travel Essentials

FYI: This post is sponsored by Davids Cookies. All opinions are honest and my own.As exciting as vacations are, preparing for one can end up being overwhelming (especially when there’s one million things to check off on your to-do list before the big day). Whether you’re in it for the long haul or taking a quick trip across state, I rounded up up a few of my travel essentials that will hopefully make your journey a whole lot easier. I’m also partnering with Davids Cookies on today’s post to show you how perfect their selection of fresh baked desserts are for trips like these so rest assured, you won’t be leaving on an empty stomach. Keep reading to get the 411 on what to pack and munch on…

Capture Memories

When you’re traveling, it’s understandable to want to document every single thing but it can really take away from the overall experience. Instead of pulling out your smartphone every few minutes to edit a photo for the gram – use an instant camera! It’s quick, easy, and there’s just something extra special about having physical images to personally look back on. They’re also much more in the moment, which is a refreshing break from all the overly filtered and staged shots that we’re exposed to on social media. When your trip comes to an end, you’ll have a whole bunch of polaroids that you can either hang up on your wall or showcase in a scrapbook!

Snacks, snacks, + more snacks

Sometimes the food on a flight just isn’t enough so I like to pack a few extra snacks with me to indulge on. Luckily, Davids Cookies has a wide range of delicious bite sized treats to choose from. My personal favorites are Chocolate Chunk Cookies and Chocolate Chip Brownies (as shown above) because they automatically satisfy my sweet tooth cravings and are super easy to take on the go. They even have individually wrapped treats that you can easily pack into your carry on. A great thing to note about all of their products is that there are no added preservatives, fresh upon delivery, and they even offer gluten free options. Check out all the delicious goodness here. The process is simple: Order a tin (or two) via their website and expect a delivery at your doorstep within two days (perfect if you have a trip quickly coming up and want ultimate freshness!)

Take care of your skin!

Changing environments both within the flight cabin and your new destination can have a crazy effect on your skin. Like many other people, my skin becomes heavily dried out so bringing skincare items that give you a boost of hydration like a face mask, lip moisturizer, face lotion, and a refreshing mist are much needed. When you’re boarding off the plane and headed to an area where you’ll be exposed to a ton of harsh sunshine (even on cloudy days), sunscreen is your best friend! Trust me, your skin will thank you by the end of the trip. Lastly, don’t forget to make sure that all of your liquid products follow TSA policy to avoid having to throw them out (because let’s be real, skincare is expensive!)

Dress accordingly

If you get major anxiety during flights like me, I can’t stress how important it is to dress comfortably! Bring an extra pair of accessories like an oversized scarf, eye mask, and cozy socks. Oftentimes, the plane ride can be a chilly one, so having these all handy can really make your experience much more comfortable. Wherever you’re headed, make sure to also check the weather report beforehand to get an idea of what type of clothing pieces to bring. I’ll be heading to Seoul in a couple weeks, where temperatures will be 84 degrees and up so you’ll find me in floppy hats, shorts, and sunnies!

And there you have it – all my essentials for having a fun, stress-free Summer vacation. If you have any tips of your own that you would like to share, feel free to mention them in the comments below! Also, don’t forget to check out Davids Cookies and treat yourself to some sweet treats on your next vacay!

With Spring in full swing, it’s the perfect time to plan a picnic — whether it’s in the comfort of your own backyard, along the beach, or at a local park! Since I’m a huge sweet tooth, I thought it would be fun to center an entire picnic around dessert and David’s Cookies made it incredibly easy to execute! Within a span of 1-2 days, I received a delicious assortment of lemon pie, twelve piece mini cheesecakes, and dozens of cookies delivered straight to my door step. Oh and the cookies are baked and shipped the same exact day and are free of preservatives… how crazy is that?!

When planning a picnic, it’s super important that the food transports well! You don’t want to spoil your experience, right? Luckily, all of these desserts held up perfectly under the warm weather and were 100% fuss free. This is largely due to the fact that all baked goods are packaged safely in a cooler filled with dry ice upon delivery to ensure that you receive the best quality ever! Keep reading to see how the picnic turned out along with a yummy Cookie Sandwich recipe to pair along with it.

Nothing feels more refreshing than an iced cold drink in the Spring time! This recipe is a fun little take on the classic lemonade and if you have a quite a sweet tooth like me, you definitely have got to try it! It’s super easy to make and also a greet treat to make during a relaxing vacation.

What you need

Serving Size: 4 Drinks | Prep Time: ~10 minutes

  • 16oz Strawberries (1 Box)
  • 1 Bottle of Sparkling Water
  • 3/4 oz Lemon Squeezed (2-3 lemons)
  • 3/4 oz Grapefruit Squeezed (1 grapefruit)
  • Ice Cubes
  • Sugar
  • Water
  • Mint

  1. Begin by creating your simple syrup by combining sugar and water into a saucepan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Keep stirring until sugar is dissolved and allow to cool.
  2. Hull and half your strawberries and mix into blender until smooth. Use a drainer/sifter for additional smoothness.
  3. Squeeze the juice of both the lemon and grapefruit. Combine with Simple Syrup and Strawberry Purie then place in fridge to cool.
  4. When ready, pour mixture over ice, add sparkling water, and top with sliced strawberries and mint for garnish.

Happy drinking! As always, if you decide to try out this recipe, let me know what you think in the comments below.

St. Patrick’s Day is on Friday and with all the trending unicorn food on the internet lately, I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and create something equally magical! This six layer rainbow pancake is something you can easily whip up for breakfast… or any time of day because let’s be real, breakfast food is the best. I also wanted to use this holiday as an excuse to incorporate Lucky Charms marshmallows into a recipe because it was my favorite cereal growing up and I was seriously hit with nostalgia when I opened the box this morning! Let me know in the comments below if you would save all the marshmallows for last as a kid too and/or let me know if you decide to recreate this!!!

What You Need

  • 1 3/4 Cup of Pancake Batter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Cup or 8 oz of Water
  • Food Coloring in all the primary colors (Red, Yellow, Blue, Green)
  • Whip Cream
  • Multi-colored Sprinkles (I used a combination of stars and dots)
  • Lucky Charms Cereal Marshmallows

  1. Make your pancake batter! I used a store bought box to save time but you can always start from scratch using flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, milk, egg, and butter!
  2. Once you’ve mixed your batter (it’s okay if there are a few lumps), equally divide it into 6 separate bowls. From there, you will begin carefully dropping some food coloring into each bowl to create every color of the rainbow! I’m sure you already know this but just for quick reference: To create Purple, mix a 1:2 ratio of Red to Blue food coloring. To create Orange, mix a 1:2 ratio of Yellow to Red food coloring.
  3. Lightly rub some butter or vegetable oil on a non-stick pan and heat on low-medium. Make sure not to go any hotter than this because this will affect the color of the pancake. Once heat is evenly distributed, pour in mixtures into pan one by one. When sides of pancake begin to bubble and pop, it’s time to flip!
  4. When all six pancakes are complete, assemble them in the following order from top to bottom: Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red.
  5. Top with whip cream, Lucky Charms marshmallows, and a combination of different sprinkles!
