With the new season, comes exciting additions to my wardrobe and this year has definitely been one of experimentation for me. Below are my favorite trends that I’ve fallen in love with along with ones that I would love to try out this Fall:
Pleats x Culottes
When I saw these awkward pleated olive pants at Top Shop months ago, I debated on whether to get them since I am short, petite, and didn’t want to drown in them. But when I saw these babies on sale at Nordstrom Rack, I had to snag them up! (That way, I wouldn’t feel too bad for spending so much cash on something in case I didn’t get much use out of it) Turns out, I love them! They add such as a cool, comfy, and chic element to any outfit especially when paired with a leather biker jacket. Did I mention that they’re super comfortable?! I would totally wear these as pajamas around the house too.
Patches x Pins
Let’s be real – the 90s has never gone out of style and has seemingly transcended it’s era. This year, we’ve seen everything from pom pom accessories, chokers, to spaghetti strap tops make a come back. However, one massive 90s inspired trend that stood out to me was jackets plastered with playful patches and pins. Throughout the year, I slowly began collecting bits that I’ve come across during my travels, art events, thrift stores, and through some of my favorite creative entrepreneurs. You can easily buy a fully decorated item at stores like Zara but I personally recommend adding your own flavor by collecting bits that you’ve come across (my favorite way has been through supporting fellow creative entrepreneurs). The best thing about this trend is being able to personalize a piece of your wardrobe with unique messages and designs that best represent who you are.
Denim on Denim
Ok, so Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake rocked their iconic matching denim ensembles back in 2001 but this craze has made a major comeback recently. You’ve all heard the fashion rules like “don’t mix patterns” or “don’t wear denim on denim” but as I’ve gotten older, I learned to ignore them. That’s why when Madewell launched their 24 days of Denim program back in July, I became obsessed! They featured amazing limited-edition collaborations and unconventional denim pieces that extend ended far beyond your ordinary pair of jeans. Something about this just pairing just makes you look much more polished and put together.
Embroidery x Bombers
The combination of embroidery, silk, and bomber jackets is just so perfectly chic and probably one of this year’s biggest trends. Not only have they exploded on the runway, but you can find these pieces almost everywhere in stores. Many of the embroidered designs are very much Japanese inspired and look amazing paired with skirts, pants, dresses, and pretty much anything.
What is your favorite trend this season?
