What better way to kick off Spring Break than to embark on an epic road trip with your best friends?! Although I’m a homebody at heart, I have major wanderlust and have always loved traveling to new destinations.Whether you’re in it for the long haul across the country or simply exploring a different city nearby, it’s good to plan accordingly so that you have a more than freeing experience! I’m working with Pocky to share my top essentials for when you hit the open road:

Block out those harsh sun rays and shield your eyes from dusty roads with a cute pair of sunglasses!

Beauty Staples with SPF

Keep your skin fresh, healthy, and camera-ready with beauty products that are packed with SPF! Avoid a major sunburn by lathering sunscreen lotion on exposed areas of your body every couple of hours. The recycled air in the car can also be very dehydrating so bring along a lip balm to moisturize your lips. Your skin will thank you at the end of the day!

Smart Phone

This probably goes without saying but I’m just including this here because it’s arguably one of the most important things to have in case of an emergency! If you get lost – whip out google maps to find your way. If you’re hungry – open Yelp to find a bite to eat. Side note: Don’t forget the charging cable and/or an external battery charger!

Light-Weight Clothing

Wherever the road takes you, make sure that you’re wearing comfortable clothing that can be easily thrown on/off, re-worn, and is easy to mix with other pieces. Anything soft, oversized, and with a bit of stretch is perfect to tackle any type of weather. When you’re not sitting in the car and exploring the unique road side attractions, it’s also crucial to have comfortable sneakers to trek around with.

Snacks, snacks, and snacks

Obviously, Pocky should be on the top of your list! Satisfy your sweet tooth with a variety of their delicious flavors like Chocolate, Strawberry, Matcha Green Tea, and Cookies & Cream. They’re also super easy to snack on and don’t leave any chocolate mess behind. Toss a few boxes in the car and you’ll never go hungry in between meals! FYI: You can find them at any of your local Target or Walmart stores. Luckily, Pocky makes it super easy to find out which retailers nearby sell a specific flavor that you’re looking for via their new store locator on their website.

A large cozy blanket is essential for those extra chilly nights and can come in handy for any surprise picnics along the way.

Good Soundtrack

Playing DJ in the passenger seat? Prepare a playlist ahead of time or click here for a fun Road Trip Playlist I put together on Spotify. There’s a little everything from classics like The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun” to recent chart toppers like Lorde’s “Green Light.” Whatever you choose to play, make sure it energizes you so that you can beat the lulls of the long drive ahead. The good thing about this is that you won’t have to deal with the annoying lack of radio connectivity as you drive through any rural roads!

Instax Camera

There’s just something about having physical photographs that give me so much nostalgia when I look back on them. With everything digital and social media focused, it’s also a good reminder to live in the moment and not through a filter 24/7.

You’ll be spending hours on the road so why not take advantage of this free time and catch up on a book that you’ve been wanting to read but never had the time to start!? Travel Journals are also a perfect way to document special memories throughout your trip, which you can easily look back on later on.

On top of all of this, don’t forget to stay hydrated and get some much needed rest throughout your trip! Click here to learn more about Pocky and let me know in the comments below if you have any exciting travel plans coming up this season!

Nothing feels more refreshing than an iced cold drink in the Spring time! This recipe is a fun little take on the classic lemonade and if you have a quite a sweet tooth like me, you definitely have got to try it! It’s super easy to make and also a greet treat to make during a relaxing vacation.

What you need

Serving Size: 4 Drinks | Prep Time: ~10 minutes

  • 16oz Strawberries (1 Box)
  • 1 Bottle of Sparkling Water
  • 3/4 oz Lemon Squeezed (2-3 lemons)
  • 3/4 oz Grapefruit Squeezed (1 grapefruit)
  • Ice Cubes
  • Sugar
  • Water
  • Mint

  1. Begin by creating your simple syrup by combining sugar and water into a saucepan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Keep stirring until sugar is dissolved and allow to cool.
  2. Hull and half your strawberries and mix into blender until smooth. Use a drainer/sifter for additional smoothness.
  3. Squeeze the juice of both the lemon and grapefruit. Combine with Simple Syrup and Strawberry Purie then place in fridge to cool.
  4. When ready, pour mixture over ice, add sparkling water, and top with sliced strawberries and mint for garnish.

Happy drinking! As always, if you decide to try out this recipe, let me know what you think in the comments below.

With our trip slowly coming to a close, we wanted to take advantage of the beautiful Los Angeles weather by spending our last day at the beach. If you’re planning on doing the same this Labor Day, I put together a playlist that we’ll be listening to while we soak up the Summer sun. All these songs have a sort of innocence to them and are a perfect reminder to simply enjoy the moment while it lasts!

What’s your favorite song to listen to at the beach?

Aside from munching on a ton of snacks, admiring the beautiful scenery, and making a necessary In N Out break in the middle of the night – a road trip isn’t complete without a playlist of good tunes to belt out while you hit the road! I’ll be heading to Los Angeles in a couple weeks with my boyfriend so I thought this would be a perfect time to put together a list of songs we can both enjoy during our trip. If you’re heading to an end of Summer road trip too, these songs are perfect mix of nostalgia and Summer fun! So what are you waiting for? Roll down those windows and crank up the music!

What song is essential for your road trip? Let me know in the comments below!

Happy Friday, everyone!

To kick off the weekend, I’m sharing a simple, fun, and delicious smoothie recipe that you can whip up to combat the warm weather! I’ve been seeing Açaí bowls made in coconut shells all over my Instagram feed and was inspired to do something similar! I tried cutting a coconut in half but was highly unsuccessful so I opted for a pineapple cup instead, which turned out equally as cute! I also think these would add such a cute touch to any celebration.

Happy Fourth!

I hope everyone had a restful long weekend. I spent mine catching up on some much needed z’s, eating heaps of food, and playing board games with my family. Sometimes a weekend with entirely no plans is just what you need to relax and unwind. Even though the day is drawing near, I wanted to share a quick last minute recipe for a refreshing holiday mixed drink that you can quickly whip up before you head out to see the fireworks tonight (or anytime in general).

Happy first day of June!

With summer coming up and the weather slowly beginning to warm up, i’ll be sharing a few of my favorite recipes throughout the season, starting with home made roasted Blueberry + Strawberry Greek Yogurt popsicles. I found this recipe on Sprinkled with Jules via Pinterest awhile back and immediately wanted to try it out! This dessert is quick, simple (it only contains 4 ingredients!), and healthy.
